1973 Vauxhall Firenza

After selling his Viva Cabriolet Jonathan has missed not owning and

working on a custom car. So here we are another project.

He toyed with the idea of converting a 60’s Mustang with a European

6 cylinder donor car, using the same system of a complete floor swap

that worked so successfully with the Victor and Cresta.

But the costs involved were prohibitive.

So he turned his attention to an idea he had a few years ago.

A Vauxhall Firenza again using the same system of a floor change.

These photos are of the 1973  model he has just purchased,

a rolling shell with some dodgy wheel arch repairs but

surprisingly major rust free.

Possible donor cars are a Nissan 200SX, BMW 3 series and the

Nissan Skyline. The last two would require shortening of the wheelbase

by 7 inches. Although this would create more work there are more options

at a later time to increase the power. His favourite is the Skyline but we

will have to wait and see if a donor vehicle becomes available.

This is a mock up on how he hopes it will look, big arches and no bumpers.

To keep the weight down the interior would be very basic, no rear seats or

luxuries such as electric windows or sound deadening. He is trying to keep

it under a tonne to give a good power weight ratio.
